Accreditation & Certification Program

Over recent years, more people and companies are increasing their genuine efforts toward greater openness and inclusivity, but the path to achieving diversity, equity and inclusion is sometimes unclear.

Companies may be supportive in assessing gaps between policy and culture. Nevertheless, they lose talents when culture does not align to policy or, vice-versa, when inclusive businesses need to communicate their commitment through concrete policies in place.

We are committed to contribute to the inclusion path with regards to the traveling LGBTQ+ community.

Queervadis is the first and unique international Diversity, Equity & Inclusion LGBTQ+ accreditation and certification program for the Tourism Industry. Its was developed in 2020 by company Sonders&Beach, group founded in 2002 and based both in Europe and US, with the support of the main LGBTQ+ associations. Everything is based on the guidelines of the QueerVadis DE&I protocol, validated by the international certification body RINA, which is in charge to validate the inclusive hospitality programs.

The Program consist of two steps

The Accreditation which requires staff training on DE&I issues and to sign the QV ethic code.

The Certification program requires to implement the QV Protocol. The company commitment is verified by RINA that certifies the business as a QueerVadis Approved Organization.

Differences Between Accreditation & Certification Program

The certification program, along with the accreditation initiative, forms a comprehensive scheme for organizations aiming to be authentically LGBTQ welcoming. The certification program is an in-depth evaluation ensuring that organizations not only verbally commit but also demonstrate in practice their dedication to serving the LGBTQ community respectfully and effectively.

In parallel, the preliminary accreditation process is a crucial stepping-stone for organizations that are either new to the LGBTQ Welcoming initiative or need preparatory assistance for the subsequent certification review. This program provides a suite of services, meticulously designed to endow hotels with the necessary competencies to cater to the unique needs of the LGBTQ community.

This includes educational and consulting services that offer tangible tools and insights to enhance the understanding of the LGBTQ-specific needs. Areas of implementation could be staff training, formulation of inclusive company policies, and enhancements in customer service practices.

Additionally, the accreditation process supports organizations in making essential modifications within their premises. These changes could range from physical provisions like gender-neutral facilities, to cultural strides like fostering an all-embracing work environment.

Upon successfully going through the accreditation process, organizations will have accrued the skills and resources necessary for a successful certification evaluation. Therefore, both the accreditation and certification programs work synergistically, providing a comprehensive pathway for organizations aiming to become genuinely LGBTQ Welcoming.
